ABOUT THE COURSE
Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (PSCRB) other than Fast Rescue Boat (Restricted) is a 3 or 5-day STCW MCA-approved course that forms part of the MCA OOW CoC qualification. The PSCRB course focuses on preparing students for the launching and handling of a survival craft. The training school will use practical methods to train crew on the correct onboard emergency procedures using a range of lifeboats and inflatable rescue boats. The course will also recommend innovative onboard training programmes to use onboard your yacht as well as detailed safety drill procedures. Course content will also cover the different types and usage for survival crafts, lifejackets, immersion suits, distress communications, man-overboard responses and rescue boats.
WHO IS IT FOR?
This course forms part of the Officer of the Watch Certificate of Competency, so any crew member working their way toward this ticket will need to successfully complete this course. Any crew member undergoing offshore passages will also find this module very beneficial. In order to attend this course, you must hold:
- A valid ENG1 medical,
- A Personal Survival Techniques (STCW Code AVI/1-1),
- At least 6 months sea service.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST & WHERE CAN I DO IT?
The cost of the PSCRB will vary from school to school and will depend on whether you attend the 5-day course or the 3-day course (the 5-day course goes into more depth and may give you better preparation for your OOW oral but both are considered sufficient for you OOW CoC). At the time of writing the 3-day course costs +/- 800 Euros and the 5-day course costs +/- 900 Euros.
