This course aims to transfer the required knowledge, competence and skills to the course participants’, as stated in the STCW Convention. On successful completion of the course & oral examination, candidates will be able to work worldwide as a Deck Officer on yachts <3000GT.

Pre-requisites

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Hold a valid seafarers medical (IMO/ILO)
  • Hold a valid STCW Basic Safety Training Certificate
  • Hold a valid TM Master of Yachts 200GT Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Hold a GMDSS GOC

Seatime Required

Either 36 months seatime or 12 months seatime whilst holding a TM Training Record Book. (Dispensation available for candidates with an MCA Yacht Training Record Book) All seatime must be obtained on vessels of not less than 15 metres/ 80GT or more, whilst holding:

  • TM Master of Yachts 200GT
  • RYA Yachtmaster 200GT
  • IYT Master of Yachts 200GT
  • Italian Nautical Licence (class B)

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

***Tuition & Assessment on all above modules will be completed in 13 weeks.***

You will have the option to complete the course via either:

  • Comprehensive Route [13 week course]
  • Bi-Modular* Route [13 weeks into 2 periods]*Both modules to be completed within 2 calendar years of each other.

WHAT IF I HAVE ALREADY COMPLETED MODULES THROUGH ANOTHER TRAINING CENTRE?

Your current modules will be taken into account and can form part of your training towards your Transport Malta CoC.

WILL I HAVE TO PAY EXTRA FOR ORAL PREPARATION?

No, Oral Preparation will be carried out by
one of our 16 shareholders of whom are the Maritime Pilots of Malta. This is included in the course fee and we will not outsource any of this to external companies.

DOES THIS TICKET RESTRICT ME TO WORK ON JUST MALTESE FLAGGED VESSELS?

No, there is an extensive list of flags that accept Transport Malta tickets including all
EU member states. Due to the transparency offered by the IMO, you may also use your ticket to obtain a Certificate of Equivalent Competency from the above flags if you so wish. For a full list of accepting countries/flags outside the EU, please get in touch with us.
